Couperose

Couperose

Couperose treatment

Couperose is a common skin condition characterised by visible red or blue veins, usually on the face. This condition occurs due to dilated blood vessels and can worsen due to factors such as sun exposure, temperature fluctuations, or sensitive skin. While couperose is harmless, it can be cosmetically bothersome.

Laser treatment is a proven and effective method for treating couperose. The laser precisely targets the dilated blood vessels, causing them to disappear without damaging the surrounding skin. The treatment is quick, safe, and virtually painless, with minimal recovery time.

By using advanced laser technology, your skin can appear more even and healthy after just a few sessions.

How Does the Treatment Work?

Before the treatment, our laser specialist will provide you with all the necessary information. The laser targets the dilated blood vessels, which may cause a slight tingling sensation. The procedure typically lasts between 15 and 30 minutes.

After the treatment, the skin may appear slightly red or swollen, similar to mild sunburn. This usually subsides within a few hours to a few days. A cold compress and soothing creams can help calm the skin. Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 50 daily to protect the skin.

Results are often visible after 1 to 3 sessions, depending on the severity of the couperose.

Preparation

We recommend avoiding sun exposure for 4 to 6 weeks before the treatment. This makes the procedure less suitable immediately after a sun holiday or tanning bed session. The best time for treatment is when your skin is at its lightest tone.

Additionally, we advise avoiding alcohol, exfoliating the skin, engaging in intense physical activity, or exposing the skin to heat sources such as saunas before the treatment. These precautions help ensure optimal treatment conditions.

Aftercare

After laser treatment for couperose, it is important to take proper care of the skin. Cool the skin immediately after the treatment with a cold compress to reduce redness and swelling.
Avoid heat sources such as saunas, tanning beds, or hot baths for the first 48 hours, and do not apply makeup to the treated area.

Use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 50 daily and avoid sun exposure for 4 to 6 weeks.
Apply a soothing or anti-inflammatory cream twice a day for five days as recommended.
Do not touch, scratch, or rub the treated area to ensure optimal healing. Follow the provided instructions carefully for the best results.
